About me

I’m Sini Kallioniemi, a Finnish design student passionate about art, design, and sustainability. I'm most interested in illustration, graphic design and printed products, but I like to explore things such as comics, public art, 3D modeling, and fine art. And this portfolio is about all of them! For commissions, Redbubble design suggestions, or professional inquiries, feel free to dm me on social media or send a message via email!

Coming soon: an art exhibition about the relationship between humans and nature

My first ever art exhibition will start on the 27th of January 2025 in Saima 6 which is located in the centre of Lahti.
I´ll be exhibiting mostly paintings, a couple of sculptures and even an interactive piece!
This is something I´ve dreamed of for a while and I´ve had a lot of fun working on this project. I still have a lot more to do, so check out my instagram if you want to take a look behind the scenes.

Taidepömpelit Kouvola 2023-2025

Taidepömpelit Kouvola is a project hosted by the city of Kouvola and local electric companies. The chosen artists get to paint their artwork on electric cabinets and are provided the needed tools.
I have participated three times now and my ladybug painting even got used on the city's web page on an article about the project!

My latest painting is a carousel inspired by circular economy, repair and reuse. The idea came from a collage I made during a course about circular economy at LAB.

Internship at Inspis Lahti

I carried out the practical training required for my current studies as a graphic designer at Inspis Lahti, and a lot of the things I'm designed were for their Eteenpäin Elämässä ("Forward in Life") project. As the name suggests, the goal is to help people move forward. The materials I've made range from motivational and informational posters to job application templates, and all kinds of resources to help with routines, food, and life in general.I've also made a few things that aren’t directly for the project, like posters for the workplace gym and a recycling guide I suggested after noticing there was some confusion about the difference between mixed waste and energy waste.I'm really honored to be part of this project. It reminds me that sustainability isn't just about the environment, it’s also about taking care of each other. If you want to learn more, you can check out the report I wrote about my time there by clicking the button below.

paintings

In 2025 I painted three electrical cabinets owned by Helen Sähköverkko in Helsinki. I completed the whole project in just one weekend!
On the bottom is more public art I have made.

sinisen ketun päiväkirja

This comic project was my final task of my comic and illustration studies in 2023 and is probably my most ambitious work to date. It helped me find a direction in my art and taught me skills, such as:

  • Adobe programs

  • Graphic design

  • Efficiency

  • Storytelling

Sinisen Ketun Päiväkirja is a humorous slice of life comic strip collection that follows Blue Fox and her friends as they live in a in-between stage of life. Part of it is available online and I also printed and bound a small batch of booklets.

Product design

Two product concepts made in school, the Bubbly Mug (and a vase) got made in ceramics class but the cutting board is just a concept I made.

Brand design

A cafe concept I made up in my free time to practise building a brand image from start to finish. Since this was just for fun, I didn't limit myself to a realistic concept. I went with a "instagrammable" cafe that hosts events like wine and paint but coffee instead of wine, and all kinds of crafts instead of painting.

Visualizing information

A collection of schoolwork focused on visualizing information.
The Fida project was presented to a member of the company and the S-Group project was shown to professionals from other organizations but none of these were created in collaboration with the companies. We just happened to get an opportunity to showcase our work to professionals!

Art commisssions and sales

Design is my main thing, but I'm interested in the idea of selling a few art pieces here and there. I'm still at the beginning of this journey, so most of my customers are friends and family, but a few others too.
I'm open for all kinds of commissions from lawnmower nametags to pet portraits!
